Welcome to Watercolors by Judith Gahn Murphy

I'm always trying to find time to paint! When I paint I find an inner peace, a time where I'm comfortable just being me. As I go through life and change, my painting also goes through change. Nothing here stays the same - there is no resting. I always get new ideas and find new processes and new intriguing subject matter is always around the corner. I've used transparent watercolors for the last few years - a medium that is never boring and by using many layers and more pigment (paint) I start to create images that have a vitality, dimension and life.

I paint on rag paper that is really thick and heavy. The paper accepts the paint and water over and over again to create the layering and textures that I want.

I'm always experimenting and trying new techniques. As I change and go forward so does my art. As an artist I find that my future is unpredictable. I have a passion for painting that is taking me places I've never dreamed of.
